Death Valley

After a delicious breakfast we headed to the pawn shop the famous show Pawn Stars we only stayed a few minutes and then we began our drive into death Valley. Death Valley is the lowest point on earth and it is the hottest place in America. Today the temperature got down to 119°  it is so hot that nothing can survive here except rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, and scorpions. They are also a special snail that lives only in this area. It rains a total of 2 inches per year. It was so hot we did not even sweat and your heart rate was elevated with a short walk. We tried to dig up some sand but it was hard as a rock and salty. Nate absolutely loved it and plans on returning!  Then we began what might be the longest drive ever to a city called Mammoth Lakes. We went from 120° to 60°! Mammoth Lakes is where the US Olympic ski team trains.  It is a charming city and we look forward to exploring tomorrow
