On our way to San Miguel

After walking 2 miles back to where we got off the bus, we realized the bus picks you up just outside of the sun temple. So we walked 2 miles back to gate 2 to board the bus back to Mexico City. It's abt an hour bus ride and some people stood up the whole time because seats were full. It's eye opening to see the level if poverty here that doesn't exist anywhere in America. We told the boys that the majority of the world is like this. I hope they realize how blessed we are to be born in America. Even the poorest in America do not compare to other poor areas of the world.
We had lunch/dinner at the oldest restaurant in Mexico City. Hosteria st Domingo. Then we walked for a few hours through the most crowded streets is ever seen in my life! Even Nate held my hand!
Again it was eye opening. Police with Uzis, street vendors selling without permits that would pick their "shop" up in 1 second when they heard the whistle that police were coming.
The children enjoyed playing all day with some whistles made by a street vendor. Luke and merritts make the sound of a jaguar and silas'sounded like a bird.
We decided We were ready to head on to San Miguel!
We are not on a super nice bus (with wifi)!
Adios Mexico City!!

Good morning day 2!

These boys were asleep by 7 o'clock last night. They were exhausted. I was afraid Henry was getting sick when he woke up at midnight saying his stomach hurt and his throat hurt. Thankfully he is okay this morning. The food is a little different here and Henry is a picky eater. Everyone was up by 5 AM and we had a good breakfast and we are excited to find some ancient ruins today!
My breakfast.... Yum!

Spring break day 1

Early morning! But things couldn't have went smoother!
We had a great flight to Mexico City. Landed :20 early!
Got a taxi to our hotel and settled in
We met Mark, Denise, Silas and Merritt for a 3pm lunch/dinner at el cafe Popular.... It was great!
The kids didn't care where we went, they were just thrilled to be together again!
After we ate we walked to the big square. Easter is a BIG celebration here! We went in the National Cathedral where there was a beautiful palm Sunday mass service going on.
Pipe organ
The square was decorated with very strange skeletons. I did not fully understand the reason but it had something to do with death and Jesus's resurrection.i will have to research this!
Nate was happy to see Street saxophone players in several different places. Merritt was happy to dance for the crowd
Finally we went for dessert. As you can see in this picture my kids were wiped out. The two hour time change had hit us hard!
Can't wait for more adventures tomorrow! Good night
