Grand Canyon

Things got a little hairy today. 3 hour time change, plus Henry getting up at 4 am everyday is catching up to the boys. But we did have a great day. Boys earned their junior ranger badges, and we checked in to our next hotel, best western Grand Canyon squire inn. Delicious but stressful dinner. I made Henry a morning pallet. Kindle, bottled water, Harry potter and reading light. Hope it works.

Happy Easter!

We went to Easter church service this morning at the episcopal church next door to our hotel in sedona. It was different but we were glad to be in church on Easter morning. Now it's time to head to the Grand Canyon! Happy Easter friends and family!

Evening in sedona

The reflection in the window shows what a gorgeous view we had at dinner. We ate at picazza organic gluten free Italian restaurant, not for the organic gluten free part but because it was very kid friendly and one of the few places open for dinner at 4 pm. The boys are so tired! In bed now and is only 630 pm.
Luke's picture is of him eating a sucker with a scorpion (squirrel pion, as he says) inside. Nate is eating a cactus fry. The last picture is of the fault line that was made of glass! Very interesting science stuff out here!

Pink jeep!

I hope you can click on or copy and paste the link to the you tube video in the post below. When I have my computer I can post it better but we took a ride in a pink jeep and let me tell you, it was the scariest ride! Of course boys loved it. Nate saw a real fault line and lots of interesting cactus plants. Henry loved hiking on the rocks and Luke loved the ride!
We had lunch at the Cowboy Club where we ate cactus fries. They tasted sort of like a fried pickles, of course Nate loved them.
We did have a rough nights sleep. Henry woke up at 11 pm and threw up. I was afraid he was getting a stomach virus, but he's been fine today. Henry is also a teeth grinder so we were all occasionally woken to grinding.

Delta

I was so happy to be flying on delta! Our travel day went great considering the time change. Parking and security at the airport were a breeze! We made it to our gate with just enough time to spare to get an overpriced lunch that no one ate(except me and Bryan). Full flight but it was great. The look in the boys eyes when we took off was priceless! They even had other people looking at them smiling, remembering that first time you take off and how exciting it is. 3:40 flight was long and boring, but there were no tears or major fights. We waited about 30 minutes on our rental car. I had bid on a full size SUV on Priceline, but when we got to our assigned car, it was a very uncomfortable mini van. Now I love my mini van, but I was looking forward to something else. We told them that we thought we were getting a SUV, hertz was so nice. I would say they handed over the keys to an infinity SUV, but it didn't even have keys. It was a push button starter! Big time! Dinner at Logan's was when they all fell apart. It was 530, 6 pm phoenix time, but almost 9 to the boys. They were exhausted and I hope that the drive to sedona was the worst part of the trip. Everyone's snug in the Real Sedona Inn and Suites, Luke and I in one bed, Nate and Bryan together, and Henry on the pullout sleeper sofa. 745am Pink Jeep jeep tour of the Broken arrow in the morning.
See last picture of Luke asleep in the car....a rare sight in our family. You know he's exhausted if he sleeps on the road!

On our way

We made it uneventfully to the airport, through security and to our gate. Boys are learning so much about traveling! Miss you all already!

Ready to go!

A mess

I just had unexpected company and this is what he walked in to. I was so embarrassed. I publically vow to get organized after spring break. Please be sure to notice the baseball cup on my dining room and table and the kitchen picture didn't capture the beauty of the pancake batter that had overflowed because I mixed it up in a bowl that was too small. Since I'm on a roll, I'll go ahead and admit that I threw on the clothes I wore yesterday to drop kids off at school this morning and kept thinking I would get a shower but I haven't yet. Nice, huh?

Muffins

Next time I will leave out the craisins. They added 400 calories to batch. They are yummy! Even Bryan liked them!
