7th grade field trip

Look out Atlanta! Here we come!

Atlanta

Friday was the big field trip to Atlanta for the seventh graders. I chaperoned these 4 boys. They were such a great group.
First we went to medieval times. We had a grand feast while cheering on the yellow team.
We had the most adorable T-shirts made up to wear.
Then we went to the aquarium. My four boys and I went through the entire aquarium two times! I could hardly keep up with them.
We acquired a fifth boy when he got separated from his group. He was more than happy to join our fast-moving group.
Then we all had dinner at the varsity. I had never been there.
What a cool dining room!

Strep again!!

I haven't had strep throat my entire adult life. However I have had it now twice in less than three weeks. It begins with a fever and then upset stomach and then a higher fever with an unbearable sore throat. Luckily I have already started the meds and I should be feeling better by tomorrow. This is one mean strep bug that's going around this year.

Busy days!

This ladybug habitat was one of the bingo prizes for the chili cook off. Luke was so excited to catch a ladybug and take care of her. We found out that you can feed ladybugs raisins soaked in water.
The Walhalla middle school PTO second annual chili cook off and bingo family fun night was another success this year! We had a great time tasting 14 of the best chili recipes playing bingo and auctioning off fantastic items. I am very happy that it is over. I am looking forward to not being the president anymore.
So much rainy and cold weather has put running club way behind. We finally had our first marathon or earn his 26.2. Tripp Cook, third-grader was thrilled.
Nate had a transformation Tuesday as he got his braces off and A haircut in one day! He is all finished with round one of braces. He may have to get them again in a couple of years. We are thrilled with the results because the Eye teeth that were impacted came down on their own and did not require surgery like Henry's did.
Another special Valentines dinner with my loves.
Nate was so excited to build this FM radio. He hopes to have a station one day
Nate working hard at the vex robotics competition
Thank you Papa and DD for supporting him all day at Pendleton high school. Their team did make it to state however he had to choose whether to keep participating in robotics or do track. He is really enjoying and excelling in track so he is choosing that. He is learning the polevault.
We had a wonderful weekend in Columbia with Henry for the South Carolina elementary honors choir convention. This is the second year that Henry has been chosen to participate. To be invited you must submit a recording of your singing. A panel of judges choose the top 200 voices in the state from fourth fifth and sixth grade. Here is Henry with his favorite music and piano teacher Ms. Kelley Smith.

First snow day of 2016!

They seem to have fun no matter what the circumstances are. We got a little more ice then snow but that doesn't stop them!
They have been outside all day. Can't wait till they come in to warm up!

Fire!!!

Yesterday morning around 2 AM our beautiful club house caught on fire. A security guard from keowee key saw the flames from across the lake and reported it. By the time firetrucks arrived it had been burning for around 40 minutes. It is completely destroyed! Even though you can see the clubhouse from our house we slept through the fire. There was no burning odor or bright lights that woke us up. Around 430 Elizabeth texted me because a farm and had banged on her door to tell her to move her car. We got up and looked out the window in shock and disbelief! Thankfully no one was hurt. Henry was on the same with his camera by 630. He said his photos into channel 4 and they use them on TV and the website. He was so proud to be a published photographer.
It will probably take around a year for us to rebuild the clubhouse. Lots of good memories there.

Great Day!

Here are two of the songs from the Honors Choir concert.  The conductor actually composed this song and "What a Morning." It was beautiful!

What a Morning!
