Current situation

These two have found something to do together and they get along. They are mining for rocks in our backyard. They have quite the collection. I'll take it even though it is a huge mess! I love it when these two get along.

We got a new foster kitten on Thursday. She looks just like Carly. So far we love her but she had somewhere in our house for 10 to 12 hours every day and we can't find her.

She also has a stomach problem. She has a lot of gas. We are treating her for worms so maybe it will clear up. If it does we may just keep her!

Cross country banquet

What a great season it was.

Nate Lettered in cross country again this year. It was a wonderful banquet.

So proud of you Nate. Henry says he will be running cross country next year!

Now it's time to go home and find this cat that is under lukes bed. A new Foster that we are considering keeping since we lost gizmo.

Pulling my hair out

This sweet precious boy has me pulling my hair out lately. He has decided to challenge me and his teachers. Every day he is required to write on a certain topic for 20 minutes. Yesterday the assignment was to read an article about Native American and then answer the following questions. What was interesting about the article what did you learn from the article What questions do you have about Native Americans. During the allotted time at school he wrote three words! His teacher sent home for him to redo. It took us two hours to complete the simple writing exercise! Sentences that were included in his journal were " I do not have any questions about native Americans. Indians are cool. " today I purchased a timer that he will have at his desk. His teacher will also send home any work that he does not complete and we will give him an additional writing exercise if she finds this necessary. He is truly my stubborn child.

Election Day!

No school on election day and this boy had a blast! It took all my guts but I let him ride his bike with these two friends in the neighborhood. Then he went back to Caydens neighborhood and rode there. I can't remember how old Nate and Henry were when I allowed them to do this sort of thing but for some reason I seem to hold on a little tighter to Luke.

Catching up

Enjoying the seven dozen eggs that Papa and Mema brought us!
Luke decorating the Christmas tree.

We had a great Halloween waiting for baby John Wesley to make his appearance. Marlowe got to hang out with us all day and trick-or-treat with us in the neighborhood. Luke and Marlowe made the front page of the waterside Crossing newsletter!

Isn't he gorgeous! I Anxiously await every morning to hear How he is. #babyenvy

New app

I am trying to blog again. The old app I have used for years is no longer available. I am trying to figure this one out. Not doing a good job

We had a great weekend. The boys had three birthday parties. Brian went to the Clemson game without us and I ran the shuttle bus. In the meantime I began decorating the Christmas tree! It would usually be up by now but gizmo being hit delayed me.

Now we are roasting chestnuts. That is one of Nate's favorite traditions.

Goodbye Gizmo

Thursday morning as I was leaving to go to the grocery store around 8 AM I saw our precious gizmo and Highway 183 hit by a car. It was terrible! I pulled the car over and lifted his limp, warm body into the car. He was dead but it had just happened. I was so upset but wanted to bury him before the boys got home. I dug a grave at the end of the zip line. I have a never dug a grave before and I hope I never have to again. I cried all day.

Running, fishing and piano

Nate had his first cross country meet at home this week. It was scorching hot outside and close to 97°!
The team did great. This was a pre-region tournament with five schools. We placed first for varsity boys first for varsity girls first for JV boys and second for JV girls!
New uniforms are sharp!

We had a very early morning Saturday. Nate had to be at the middle school at 5:45 AM to go to a cross country meet in Spartanburg. It was a gorgeous day and the team did great.
We had a great Labor Day playing in Eastatoee river with Mema and Papa. The boys built a swimming area and had a great time fishing. It was a beautiful day.
Just a little bit excited about his first piano lesson!

Arhhhh!!

Last two days have been very tough at school for Luke. We finally figured out what the problem is. He is home sick and he is very sad because Henry is not at the school this year with him. The evenings have been rough and so have the mornings but knowing what the problem is is half the battle.
Weekend however was awesome. Nate ran and his first ever mud run with these eighth grade cross country friends. They actually placed second in their division!
Bryan and I ran in it three years ago with Greg and Stephanie Enders and I can't say I felt the same afterwards.
Flashback to April 2013
No thank you. But Nate is fearless and he is in tiptop shape right now.
I am also excited that I helped make a love connection.
My friend Tonya needed to find a new home for her six month old dog and Mark Denise Silas and Merritt were excited to find the newest member of their family
We had a great time getting to know Basho!
Henry had his band exploration evening at the middle school. This is when the kids try out on every instrument and they are scored based on ability. Then the kids writing instruments in the order that they would like to play them. Henry wants to play the bass clarinet. I was excited to get a call from Miss Turpin the next day saying that he scored the highest score in all of the six grade on percussion! Although he doesn't want to be a drummer I was excited that he did so well.
This is what he will be playing. It is so big it sits on the ground and The person playing at sits in a chair. Tonight is our first cross country meet at home. Looking forward to a great evening.
