Arhhhh!!

Last two days have been very tough at school for Luke. We finally figured out what the problem is. He is home sick and he is very sad because Henry is not at the school this year with him. The evenings have been rough and so have the mornings but knowing what the problem is is half the battle.
Weekend however was awesome. Nate ran and his first ever mud run with these eighth grade cross country friends. They actually placed second in their division!
Bryan and I ran in it three years ago with Greg and Stephanie Enders and I can't say I felt the same afterwards.
Flashback to April 2013
No thank you. But Nate is fearless and he is in tiptop shape right now.
I am also excited that I helped make a love connection.
My friend Tonya needed to find a new home for her six month old dog and Mark Denise Silas and Merritt were excited to find the newest member of their family
We had a great time getting to know Basho!
Henry had his band exploration evening at the middle school. This is when the kids try out on every instrument and they are scored based on ability. Then the kids writing instruments in the order that they would like to play them. Henry wants to play the bass clarinet. I was excited to get a call from Miss Turpin the next day saying that he scored the highest score in all of the six grade on percussion! Although he doesn't want to be a drummer I was excited that he did so well.
This is what he will be playing. It is so big it sits on the ground and The person playing at sits in a chair. Tonight is our first cross country meet at home. Looking forward to a great evening.

School week 2

And after school snack with my awesome middle child! He is adjusting beautifully to middle school. He loves all his classes and all his teachers. Today we go after school to explore all the instruments and decide which one he will play.
This is what he wanted to wear to school this morning. I gently talked him out of it telling him it was going to be 90° again today. As long as this guy gets enough rest and enough food he loves school. We jumped in quickly working hard even in the second week.
This is what Nate does in his free time. Building a speaker out of cardboard paper wires and magnets! I'll let you know how it turns out. This guy is loving eighth grade. He is managing his time well. He runs cross country after school every day until 530. I've been very firm about bedtime. So he has to use his time wisely. I think this is pretty awesome.

Birthdays and early mornings

This first week of school has really kicked our behinds!!
Tuesday was Luke's birthday. I went to lunch with him to take cupcakes for the class and to make sure that he ate his lunch.
He has had much better days because I have made sure he ate. We are all exhausted.
I have been sure to get Luke in bed by 715 or 730 every night. Looking forward to the weekend and sleeping in. I am also enjoying my new workout machine. It is a bow flex max trainer. It does high intensity interval workouts. I have been doing either a 14 minute or 21 minute workout every day and my body hurts from head to toe. Much better than running for an hour!

First day of school

I'm The What an emotional day!! The morning went great.
The boys all got up ready to shower and have breakfast at 6 AM. We were ready to go by seven.
The first day of second grade
First day of six grade and the first day of middle school
Big man on campus. First day of eighth grade. I won't go into great detail but I will say that our afternoon included every emotion from laughter to crying! Nate was the only one that claimed a perfect day. That was after he ran five 1000 m at cross country on half a turkey sandwich. Everyone is asleep. Excited for day number two and Luke's eighth birthday tomorrow.
After school decompression. Star Wars puzzles

Luke's teacher sent them jitter glitter to put under their pillow to help them go to sleep and feel good for the first day of school. He is so excited!

Start with today!

Oh geez I'm so behind I'm blogging I don't know where I'll start. I guess I'll just start with today! We slept in and then got a call from the Humane Society that they had 2 handicap kittens they needed a foster home for. Suzanne believes that they were Siamese twins. One is missing a back left leg the other is missing A back right leg. They are both girls. Naturally one was named lefty and one was named righty.
Luke is especially excited about these kittens. He spent quite a bit of time in the basement zipped up in a tent with the two of them. It was precious.
He is so excited for his birthday this coming weekend.

We spent much of the afternoon tidying up for our very special houseguest Gianna. Gianna lived here about five years ago. We spent quite a bit of time with her. She would babysit the kids and hang out with us. She has graduated in three years from college and she is now headed to law school. We had a very special dinner with her at the roundtable! Luke lit candlesand gave everyone toothpicks. I'm sure it is not a dinner she will forget anytime soon.
Tonight they went on a pokey hunt. That means they are all playing the game Pokemon Go and they are riding around in the neighborhood trying to catch Pokémon's and hatch eggs? Whatever.
