Charleston!

The boys had Friday & Monday out of school so we went to Charleston for the weekend.  We had a great time with our neighbors Chris & Dora and their kids.  Nate had his first oyster at dinner Thursday night, he loves to try new foods.

Henry had to have his picture made outside Henry's restaurant.  Maybe next time we will eat there.

Just outside the Market.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel on the river right beside the Yorktown.  I wasn't expecting such warm weather and we had to rewear some of our shorts by the last day.

Friday morning we headed into Charleston and after a stroll through the Market, we went on a carriage tour.  We had a great tour guide and Luke even caught a nap.  You know Luke's tired when he falls asleep before lunch!

Lunch at Hyman's was yummy, especially the ice cream afterwards!

The kids loved to watch candy being made in this candy store.  Somehow we got out of there with only the free sample!

Friday afternoon we went to see parade at the Citadel.  It brought back many memories of visiting Mark there years ago.  Everyone loved it, especially those loud cannons!

I loved the bagpipes!

Piggyback rides for everyone!

Doesn't this look relaxing! Our hotel had a great sandy area where the boys loved to play.  Every night they would build a bonfire and you could make s'mores.

Henry without a shirt, of course!

We had so much fun in the sand and then a scavenger hunt around the hotel.  We ended up eating dinner at the hotel.

Saturday was the Yorktown & Fort Sumter.  I didn't enjoy touring the Yorktown anymore than I did 30 years ago, but the guys liked it.  Nate & Bryan even went back for round 2 after we did the Fort.  Saturday night was dinner at Sullivan's and then more fun at the hotel.  The boys had a great weekend, especially since Silas & Merritt were in SC when we got home!
